Albert Camy French novelist and playwright and essayist, according to his belief, is a liberal humanist, a spiritual mentor not only of the French but also of the world postwar generation of intellectuals. The main character in the novel is Merso, Algerian (a French citizen, but living in North Africa), who is overwhelmed by anxiety, boredom, and nonsense, apparently for no reason, kills a young Arab. The story is divided into two parts, in the first part the events that lead to the murder are shown, and in the second events that follow after Merso is detained.
