The composition of the novel Death in Venice takes place in five chapters. At the beginning, we get information about the time (before the war), the place (Munich), the character (writer), his title (background) and his age (over fifty years). The stranger he encounters in the park is an unimportant figure, but he uncovers the attributes of Ashenbach. Among other things, at the beginning, we learn about the great loneliness of the character – pinched over the death of the wife and the married daughter, as well as because of the lack of a son.
